The Dalles Young Life is looking for a volunteer Social Media Manager to partner with the Area Director in the development and implementation of social media communication that informs and engages supporters, parents, students, and friends of Young Life. 


  • Excellent written and visual communication skills.

  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Spark, Premier, and iMovie.

  • An understanding of social media best practices for businesses and non-profits.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Calendar.

  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, graphic design, photo-editing, and video editing.

  • Proficiency with Dropbox local and cloud storage.

  • An online presence that reflects a relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • The ability to commit 1-5 hours per week to the role of Social Media Manager.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Partner with the Area Director to develop the social media strategy for the Area, Young Life, and WyldLife ministries.

  • Create and prepare content including graphics, photos, videos, and copy for use on Facebook and Instagram.

  • Post content to Facebook and Instagram.

  • Moderate and respond to comments and messages professionally and accurately.

  • Track and analyze analytics reports to gain insight into traffic, demographics, and effectiveness.

  • Partner with the Area Director to develop a social media presence that is informative, engaging, and effective.

  • Meet with the Area Director, in person or virtually, as needed to plan and review social media communications.

Training and Support Provided

  • The Social Media Manager will be directly supported and supervised by the Area Director.

  • Use of an Adobe Creative Cloud account, quality design resources, as well as video and photo equipment as needed.
