If you are a middle school or high school student in The Dalles we are here for you! We hope you have met a Leader during lunch, at a game, at a concert, or just around town. If not, we would love to meet you, get to know you, to invite you to Club, Campaigners, coffee, or lunch.
Parents and Community
Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by becoming a volunteer leader or committee member, by attending a Young Life fund-raising event, by hosting Young Life or Wyldlife events or by simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.
Keeping Kids Safe
An important part of our commitment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity. Young Life's Human Resources department has developed mission-wide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or leaders as well as when kids are part of Young Life'sponsored activities.
Donors are vital to Young Life at the local area and regional levels. Because Young Life areas are financially supported solely at the local level, your financial gifts account for all of an area's budget and part of a region's budget. Your donation helps The Dalles Young Life hire and train staff and provide essential administrative support to the area. Your contributions also support operating expenses such as salaries and other ministry costs and can help send kids to Young Life camps.
We believe that in order to reach kids we must go where they go and enter their world. Every week in our local area, Young Life staff and volunteers can be found at school events and practices and at kids' favorite hangouts. In many cases, they are the only adult friends kids have in their lives. Our work could not be done without your support. We are grateful for your gift to Young Life. Thank you for all you do to help us reach generations of kids who desperately need to hear a message of hope.
Each local area has a committee of adults who believe in the mission of Young Life: to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. You'll find adults from all different backgrounds, careers, and churches, including lots of moms and dads who care about kids. The committee, comprised of parents, Young Life alumni and civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local Young Life team. Ask your area staff person for a local list, and feel free to call these folks with your questions at any time.
Committee is the foundation for Young Life in a local area. Oftentimes, new Young Life clubs start because of the interest and awareness created by the committee. We also welcome the involvement of adult Young Life alumni, whose enthusiasm about their Young Life experiences is valuable to a committee.
Leaders go where kids are! Our Wyldlife and Young Life Leaders are caring adults who think the world of kids and are excited about getting to know them. We believe that kids need caring adults who are willing to walk with kids through the challenges and thrills of adolescence. While they are walking with kids Leaders are pointing them to Jesus and inviting them to come and see what God had done in their lives and what He can do in theirs.
If you love Jesus and adolescents please get in touch today! With over 1,400 middle and high school students here in The Dalles, we always need Leaders who will follow Jesus' example and enter into and invite them to experience life to the fullest.
